Christingle 2020

Allerton United Reformed Church would like to invite you to its Christingle Service on December 24th 2020. This year things will be a little different as, due to Covid restrictions, numbers will have to be limited.

For this reason, we propose to run two services, one at 4pm and one at 4.30pm. If you wish to attend, we ask that you respond to this message via email, see the  Contact Us   page  confirming which time slot you would like to take up with your name, telephone number (for track and trace purposes) and how many people will be attending. Should either of the slots completely fill up, we may have to offer you the alternative time. If both slots are filled, we will run a further slot at 5pm. Each service will be around 20 minutes long and people will be asked to stand, socially distanced from other family groups (seating will be provided for those needing it).

Stewards will direct you in and out of the church and Christingles will be handed to you as you enter church. Any donations can be made as you exit the church and will be forwarded to Claire House.

We look forward to seeing you at this family service and wish you peace and joy over the Christmas season and throughout the year ahead.

                               Christmas Fundraising

The Fund-Raising committee has recently met and sadly acknowledged that we cannot proceed with any of the events that are normally planned for this time of year for the reason you all know about

However, it was decided that we would press on and hold a more restricted Christmas Raffle this year for the benefit of Church funds. The star prize will be a Marks & Spencer gift voucher for £100 and other prizes will include a Christmas Hamper and some bottles of good cheer to mention but a few

Tickets at 20p each (£1 a book) are now available from David Jones (0151 724 4420 or email jonesdw01@sky.com ) or Nick Pye (0151 737 1628 or email  sue.pye16@outlook.com ).  We will deliver the tickets to you and arrangements can be made for the ticket proceeds and stubs to be collected from you in due course

It is proposed to draw the raffle on 12 December, most probably on line.

I am also pleased to announce that Church Christmas Cards are being produced again this year, the same as were on sale at last year's Christmas Fayre. They  are available now from Ray or Linda Redfern (on 0151 427 7161 or email ray.redfern745@gmail.com  The cost of the cards is £3 for a pack of 5 or £5 for a pack of 10 and multiples of 10.  Ray will also be able to provide Raffle tickets.

Please try and support these efforts to raise funds for the Church at this time, to make up to a limited extent for what we would have raised at our Christmas Fayre

With thanks and very best wishes – Nick Pye

Christmas Shoebox collection

We regret to have to say that here will be no Christmas  shoebox collection this year at Allerton.  The local Rotary organisation have advised us that they have suspended this activity for practical reasons this year  in view of the pandemic.

There is a suggestion that people might want to donate food to a local  local food bank or contribute to a favourite charity, instead. Donations of food can be placed in the collection basket for food banks in Tesco or other supermarkets.

We look forward to putting together our shoebox gifts again in 2021
